Over time many people have offered to make donations to the forum. As much as we have appreciated the kind gestures, we have always said thanks, but no thanks. We didn't really need the money and were not set up to accept donations anyway.
In the coming months we are going to experience a pretty good yearly cost to keep the forum running optimally. We are going to need to go to a dedicated server in order to handle the traffic and keep the forum at a point that it runs quickly and doesn't provide lock outs to users trying to access it due to traffic. What we don't want to do is wait until we need to make a change to start thinking about how we are going to make it happen.
We have addressed this in three different ways. We have put some ads on our homepage to try to provide some revenue through clicks, small as it may be. We have sent out some offers to advertise on our homepage in the event a business would like to do so. The third thing we have done is made the ability to donate become a reality.
On the homepage you will see two different ways to help financially if you choose. One is through donations and the other is through sponsorship. We have put in "set amounts" for simplicity sake but, if none of the amounts listed work for you, please PM or E-mail us and we will accommodate you with an amount that will. Any amount received over the costs to upgrade will be held in an account to be used toward the following years fees. All donation transactions are secure, complete with receipt, and are executed through PayPal, not through OPEONTHENET.
