Hi guys,
I am moving house in a few months and will have no need for my current mower. It is a Bunton Twister zero turn mower with 54" deck and Kohler Command 22 HP motor. It has only 260 hours and is in excellent condition. Model year is '97 I believe.
I need to sell it and would like to get a ballpark idea of what it is worth. Any insight from the forum would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Hi John & WELCOME!! :D
I looked around & I only found 1 to compare:
http://www.floridalawnandgarden.com/sales-detail.asp?VehicleID=11110
However, its a 1995 model with a LOT of hours on it & this one is in Florida. I have no idea what the market for one would be in Kansas City.
Bunton is no longer in business but some parts can be obtained from Textron.
I will go out on a limb here & say that since yours is 2 years newer & with only 260 total operating hours, ask for $4500. For $4000, I think it might go quickly.
Or slam it on Ebay with some sort of reserve ($4k?) & see what happens.
Just my opinion...

Thanks a lot, Marty. Very helpful.
Regarding e-Bay, how would someone ship something like that? Or, would I hope for someone local?
Either way, that is in the ballpark of what I was thinking, but I didn't have any baseline to work with. I wouldn't look to make a killing, and would be happy with $4K.
Is there a For Sale forum on this board? Is there any chance someone here would be interested? Just sort of checking on the proper etiquette and don't want to disrupt.
Thanks again,
John

John - You can post in the Ebay ad body that the item is for LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. There is also an area in the shipping details where you can select LOCAL PICKUP. Make sure you specify a deadline date for pickup in the ad body, and cash only at pickup. Also, specify what days & hours are acceptable for pickup. Thats how I do my Ebay ads.
What a gentleman! No protocol here, feel free to post in our Buy, Sell and Trade: Personal Classified section from the forum menu. Its near the bottom.
Good luck & stick around! We have a wonderful bunch here!

Hi...
Used machine value... ~40%-60% of same/similar new machine cost...
So... if a new one is $6,000... then your used one should be ~ $3,000+-...
Good luck with the sale... !

Jandrews,
Welcome to the forum!
In addition to the good advice given, I might only point out that what folks can pay for a new ZTR today also dictates the worth of something from the past. For example, if I can buy a new 2007 ZTR with a 48-52" deck from Snapper, Toro, Bobcat, Scag or any number of manufacturers for a price in the 5-6K range, it makes it tough for me to buy a 10yr old ZTR for 4K. I'm just picking figures.
I suggest doing some research on what is available new and seeing where you stand. You might also dig around for what the same era Steiner and Bobcat are selling for. Sounds like you have a nice machine.
Good luck John.

Aside from ebay and the buy and sell section of this forum, you could also post it on Craig's list. Best of luck!

Very good advice here, and I appreciate the warm welcome. Sounds like a truly great bunch, and I definitely will stick around.
I think Marshall's comments align with some of my concerns. I'll have to dig out the original invoice, but I believe the original purchase price on this machine was near $8K. Wow, that seems like a lot, especially for 1997, but I am pretty sure of it. I'll check to be sure. It is in excellent condition, but I agree, I would expect 50% depreciation.
No big deal really, I just wanted to get a feel for ballpark value. My next-door neighbor is aggressively offering me $2,500 for it, but it seems like he doesn't want me to advertise it. Again, I'm not trying to make a killing, just a fair deal for both parties.
The advice here has been very helpful, and I appreciate it.
Thanks guys,
John
