I am looking at purchasing a new snowblower to replace my 13 year old snowblower I am giving to a family member. I have kind of decided on the Simplicity Pro Series 10524 but I wanted to check here before I pulled the trigger. We get about 150 inches of snow a winter here and I have about 75 feet of driveway. Would get a wider auger but I have some walkways in the landscaping that limit how wide I can go. Really like the features(electric chute control, easy turn, all metal construction, cast iron auger gear, heated grips and the 10.5 HP Intek engine seemed quieter and smoother than the Tec OHV motor). Anything I should be concerned about with the Simplicity? Thanks

Not really..I say.. a good choice!
If you've got dealer support near you, so much the better!
Post some pics when you pick that bad boy up! :D

Yes, sounds like a beast.

AS OTO says, if your buying from a dealer you like and can get good service from, pull the trigger.

AND you HAVE to post pictures once you own it, A Must.
Dont think anyone here on the board owns that beast.

Yes I'd love to buy a new simplicity.. I ended up having to buy a new transmission for my car... :( Maybe another year!

PULL THE TRIGGER! A Simplicity is a FINE machine!

Hey all - how about instituting a new rule? All who come here for purchase advise MUST post a pic IF they purchase a new machine! A chance for them to show off their new baby!

Well I picked up the 10524 today from my local Simplicity dealer. Trailered it home rather than wait a day for delivery. This thing is the apex predator of walk behind snowblowers...a tank(in a good way). It could very well be sculpted out of depleted plutonium and dine on Kia's or Hyundai's for breakfast. I had some requests for pictures once I picked it up, however, this site will not allow me to directly post pics....sorry. If anyone knows how I could post, I will happily do so. Thanks for input on my question. You were right, no buyers remorse here.

DNA,
To post pic, you need to have a place to put them online, upload them.

Once they are there you can then link to them while writing your post.

If you don't have space with your ISP,
you can get a free account from
www.photobucket.com

Most people here use photobucket.
Very forum friendly.

Once you get photo's up online, I show you how to post them.

A review with some nice shots of different angles would be great.
We have a nice collection of reviews from users on Snowblowers and lawnequipment and lawnmowers.

Hey DNA! Guess what? Now that you've purchased the machine, it's going to be a long time before you see snow. You just jinxed yourself.

Congrats on the new addition to the stable.

DNA...

Welcome here... and congratulations on the new snowblower purchase !

Nice choice !

If you are up to it... try and research potential issues with the electric chute control... so you can avoid/prevent 'em...

While I am not familiar with the Simplicity setup for this... I do recall some "freeze-up" issue with the Ariens electric chute control when ice accumulated or something... you machine may/may not have a similar potential... I 'dunno...

Enjoy the new machine !

Dave...

The pics are in Photobucket. Can't figure out how to transfer them. If you want to see them search under dimick1.

If you can see them in photo bucket, in your album,
You just need to post the url they provide you next to the photo on your ablum page..

So the code looks like this when your typing your post..

The url on the code is just for that one pix I have here on the forum..
yours will be different.. but it's those img tags before and after it that count.

Found your account.
Under your photo it has three windows.
Use the third that says..
Img.

Copy that code and just paste it into the message your typing..
I took the 2nd one, highlighted it with my mouse, right key clicked and selected copy.

Then went back into my Post a reply window and right mouse clicked and selected paste...

Good luck with it,I'm going to look at the same model in the morning. As dave__in__ct said,I'm a little concerned with the electric chute control.Others people have made the comparison to a tank, after seeing the picture I can understand why the've said this.Again good luck.

No problem.

Very sweet looking machine.
Yes, Tank does fit it well.
When you get a chance, can you post a shot of the console, from where you would be standing to operate it?

:welcome:

Looks like an awsome machine. No one around here sells simplicity, but they do look like machines that are built to last forever.

You should not have any problems with the electric chute. I havn't had any on the Ariens Pro, and it has seen a lot of snow......commercially. Big thing is ice build up, but I am sure that that won't be a problem for you. Keeping it in the garage and cleaned off between uses will insure that.

Again, welcome to the "club"!

Where are you in relation to Sault Ste. Marie?

Where are you in relation to Sault Ste. Marie?

The other end of Michigan. I am on the southern lakeshore of Lake Michigan about 2 hours north of Chicago. We get alot of lake effect snow....but I don't know if we can compete with your averages. We come up to your neck of the woods in the winter a fair amount to go snowmobiling in the U.P. One of these days we are going to do a week trip in Canada...I guess the trails are spectacular.

Murphy's law has struck. Prior to buying the snowblower, we had already had close to two feet of snow. After the purchase....it is currently raining and forecasted to do so the rest of the week. :(

Well, if you do come up.........we should at least meet and have a coffee together.

 It is currently raining here too. We had been out 4 or 5 times already and now the snow is disappearing like crazy. Supposed to rain all week.

Congrats on the fine purchase! I'd like a Simplicity if I were to buy a new blower, and it looks like a L10530E would be a good bang for the buck. Just wondering about what features were most important for you on the Pro series compared to the large frame?

There were a couple reasons I chose the Pro over the standard large frame:

24" width with plenty of reserve power(10.5 HP) and Power Boost clutch

Electric chute control

Handwarmers

More aggressive tires

And the intangible ...it just felt better

I have some walkways going through the landscaping that do not allow me to go over 24" width. However, we get some huge snowstorms here because of lake effect. I also clear a path all the way down to the beach and there are some HUGE drifts. All the 24" width blowers came with 5-7HP and I had some concern that they would struggle in that environment. I am sure it is overkill for my needs but then so are most of the tools, toys and gadgets I own...life is supposed to be fun right? Frankly, I was impressed with almost all the blowers I saw at the dealers...not so much the box stores though. The large frame Simplicity is a sweet machine but unfortunately was too wide for my needs.

Real nice beasty blower. I was looking at the Husqvarna blower and wondered why Simplicity put a tank on there, if they incorporated some type of hydraulics on it. But then I realized it was a backpack blower.

Thanks. That is a lot of power on 24".

Oops. Sorry about that. My photographic skills are substandard at best.
My wife however is an excellent photographer. I just didn't think she would understand why I want her to take a few pictures of a snowblower.
The men in the white coats would not be far behind. I have tried to explain that it is a guy thing(going out to the garage at 2:00AM to look at the new car, sitting in the boat for an hour without starting it just to sit in it, spending so much on a home theater that you could have purchased a commercial theater, having that third Manhattan with the boys when you know it's going to bite you in the a$$ the next morning) but I don't think she "gets it". Go figure.

I got wood.

Nice machine DNA.

Looks like we're getting some more Simplicity guys in here this year. Older and newer models. Should be some fun stuff when the snow comes.

Good luck,

Kevin
