Hi... me again

(I know I know.... what the :cussing: does this guy want now!)

I am tring to age my machine. I read in a previous post somewhere someone aging an engine by the codes. my craftsman number is 143-666322 SER 6246D Tecumseh converts it to HM80-155137C My machine is a Craftsman 8/26 model c944-52750.

Judging by what I saw (can't remember his SER # example)but my SER 6246D (using his formula) worked out to 1996 246th day "D" shift. I don't know snowblowers enough to know if this looks like a 10 year old machine or if that code is the next decade back and it's a 20 year old machine.

Any ideas even from looking at it (avatar) from you guys that know the styles and eras they came from?

Or even 30 years ('76) even......................Like Pete (Spectrum), I work on alot of old (still running) Gilsons from the late 60's. There still is alot of old iron out there.

Hi Yukon,

Yea it's a bummer how Tecumseh makes you guess at the decade.

If you post a picture or send one to me we can give it our best estimate.

If it's your avatar my money is on 1976.

Ya, it's my avatar, I also posted a shot of it in my kitchen in general chat under http://www.opeonthenet.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3373

Ya, it's liek rocket science trying to get info on this machine... nice tough old girl though... she'll throw wet cement like it's styrofoam peanuts

I have other shots I can post a pic of whatever angle you think may give the best "tell" if that helps... 76 does seem to suit it's rugged look though.
