Hello everyone, longtime lurker, finally decided to join...
I need help with decoding a model # for an older MTD riding mower.
Model 1360675G336
Serial # 1L025B40165
Engine > B&S 16HP Twin II
Model 42A707
Type 123801
Code 95111215A
I have restored several Ariens snowblowers for myself and others, but this is the first tractor / mower I have had a chance to look at. The neighbor says this unit needs a clutch, and I enjoy fixing things up. I am hopng I can find some additional information on this unit.
Looking for service info, parts lists, you all know the drill...
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go here:http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/topcategory_10101_15601_-1
Punch "Launch illustrated search engine".
That should take you too a search function where you punch in your model number.
Hint: Use a letter "O" instead of the number "zero" in the 4th number of your model number. ie....1360675G336 and that will get you your parts lists.
If that wont work, email me and I will send you an IPL.

Wow! What a response! I have since brought the tractor into the shop, and we have it running, but we are having problems with the rear axle. I work at an automotive dealership, so as you can imagine, when it gets a bit slow in the shop, the techs like to keep busy. Everyone knows something, and this has turned into quite a project...
Anyway, I bought the tractor from the guy for $50, and the 16HP Twin is humming beautifully. The guy I bought it from is a plumber, and he said that last summer the tractor would not drive. Picked it up with the plow truck yesterday, and did the usual oil change etc. We found that the right axle pulled right out if the transmission (uh-oh!). The threaded end was all torn up, so we all decided we needed to get in deeper...
We broke apart the tranny and discovered that the nut that was supposed to be on the end of the axle was bouncing around the inside of the carrier with all of the spider gears (which appeared to be non-servicable according to all of the links you guys posted above and from MTD's web site). Well, you know how automotive techs can be, yep, it became servicable! Nothing like a little heat and a bit of effort...
After fighting it a bit, we got the tranny back together and took it for a spin. We need to do some major adjusting with the belts and pulleys because we have one speed only! That will be our project today...
I am hoping we can get this done, because for $50.00, no more push mowing or raking for me! This unit came with the rear dual-bagging kit that I am looking forward to using on our property come spring...
Maybe I should stick to the older Ariens that I know... ;>)
I will keep you all posted...
Thanks for all of your help, I am looking forward to staying here in the future!

Sounds to me like you and the folks you work with had fun figuring this out, so I wouldn't pass up on another opertunity to grap a $50 tractor.

UPDATE!
Ok, we got all of the drive working, seven speeds, AND reverse! We monkey'd the springs (we had it set up wrong when we reassembled the rear end...)
We had to weld one of the spider gears that had a broken tooth, and the thing runs, but with a bit of a bind... I may just drive the thing until it either seats OR blows up! New differential (MTD-918-04091; $164.00) may be an option, I will have to weigh in on that one when it comes up...

Great job 10... and best of luck with the machine !

UPDATE #2
Wow, is this thing grinding! Maybe need more time with it...
Our shortcut did not seem to hold, but we'll keep at it! The tractor now jumps into gear and you can hear the gears fighting... I was looking online for a new transmission assy (MTD# 918-0163D, $397.25), and I was hoping for some advice from you guys...
Does anyone have a used trans in operating condition that they would be willing to part with? I gather that it is a Peerless unit (618-0163 is on the current bad one). My guess is that someone out there saves everything they come across any may have one for this tractor. I am off to an awesome boneyard locally to begin my search, but I am hoping that you guys may have some advice...

Although this sounds like you have been having fun fixing it up, I'd really hesitate spending $400 on a new replacement tranny when you can buy a whole used running MTD tractor in decent shape for the same $400. One of the nice things about MTD stuff is that they make a LOT of it, so there are zillions of old ones sitting in boneyards all over the place. I'd also check out what's on Ebay for parts that you can use. Almost every dealer has a few rusting away out back.

Found one! Same serial #...
Now just to find the time to swap the two out...

DONE! Wow, what a job...
Everything mounted up fine, however I cannot find the mounting points for the last spring for the brake / clutch lever. The transmission is fine, but I only have one speed and the shift lever (to the pulley) does not engage. Looking at the tractor from the rear, it came from the upper left side above the spring for the mower deck that mounted to the bracket on the left rear transmission.
Anybody have any thoughts?
