They were calling for a dusting but then they changed it to 4-6" over night. Traffic was crawling it took me 2hrs to make a 1/2 hour drive....Loving my 4x4 now I gotta tell ya. The wife is stuck in traffic - if it keeps snowing like this I may have to go get her.

Is it ever snowing here at home....I have over 6" on my deck alreadyand the flakes are coming down as big as a twoonie! Time to fire up the beast and test it out - minus the new paint of course....Gotta make a quick air cleaner housing to keep the snow out. I was gonna pick up the snad this week to blast it this weekend. The snow is very sticky too.....Might end up shoveling my 150Ft driveway. ....Video to come.

BigRig, I feel your pain. My honey couldn't wait to get home to try out his John Deere Model M with the plow. The snow is extremely heavy and the Deere just couldn't make a run of it, so he resorted to my Dads Ford, which has been here for a month doing nothing.

Yeah, it is very heavy. My old gilson wouldn't throw it - the bucket is just too rough without new paint. Now the little Craftsman threw it great - the new CAT paint was like Teflon. :D ....But that P.O.S. Tecumseh is another story....Up and down like a hore's drawers. Works great at WOT - too well....and it would hunt at idle.....never goes back to the same rpm twice. I rebuilt the carb completely last year too to factory specs.....P.O.S it is....If I could only find a 10HP Briggs for it it would be gone/ :cussing: I have to engage the auger, drop the throttle to WOT and engage the drive before the thing blows up - if I run it any slower while it's throwing it doesn't throw well.....Pretty madning to say the least. The Gilson needs a custom carb enclosure made - the intake was icing between the heads. I'll use the crankcase vents and some exhaust heat to warm it up. I put the old girl in the heated shop so I can tear into it tommorow night. I need to figure out what it has for an alternator too.

the lil deere has the power and better lights.
but i need to build some shoes for the blade ,digs in our frost free driveway very bad.
havent even brought the tire chains home for it yet.
the ford is a sweet tractor and has an awesome set of ring chains on it .
i just set the bucket down and tilt it back a bit so it tears up less gravel.
im gonna need to hook up the nice halogen lights that are on the ROPS of the ford as well .
oh yea its a diesel

Here's a couple of pics. 6+ inches of heavy, sticky snow....I'm just glad the little blower worked well enough to clear the driveway or I would still be shoveling....LOL....I really gotta do something with that POS Tecumseh carb/governor.

I was gonna say that thing needs chains. :D ....If I can't get my old Gilson to throw snow good with new paint and some rubbers on the impeller then I'll be buying a brand new blower or a plow for my truck.

we are about 5 minutes from the mall in town.

I don't understand what the deal is with it. I cleaned it, set the new float to the spec height and etc. I have a Tecumseh manual here. My feeling is that the governor is not hauling the throttle open under load. It's really a bastardzied setup, the previous owner swap the engines and this one runs great other than the carb being a POS. The carb is not a Walbro, it's in mint shape too. As I'm using it I'm constantly having to mess with it as I'm using the machine. The old 10HP Tecumseh - RIP - was awesome, worn out but ran like a champ....Would that carb fit on the 8HP? I still have it and it's rebuilt too.

yup its a direct bolt on.
and like you said it could be governor related.
the manual describes the procedure and i know you are good with governors but tecumseh manuals are sometime a little vague.
if i showed you once how its adjusted you would have it no problem.

Maybe I'll try a carb swap then and see what happens. I really hate the throttle linkage on that thing....It's a lever type and that is part of the problem too. I'm going to change it to a push/pull cable type like the Gilson - that's a much better affair. I believe things are bent/missing and etc. Maybe if I could find a similar engine I could get a complete carb and throttle/governor linkage for it.

ahh ...
a picture is worth a thousand words my friend.
notice your pic,it shows the rod coming rom the govrnor arm to the throttle control.
the throttle control is spring loaded .
it has fallen down when the carb was removed at some point.
if you look at your pic and your diagram you will understand.

It doesn't look like that now - it's flipped up like the factory drawing....That was a pic from last year. It still doesn't work right flipped up either......It's all messed up and the little spring is bent I think throwing it out of calibration/tension :? .....Do you have any old POS Tecumseh's down there with thrown rods that might have one of those throttle linkages on it?....Maybe a non-bastardized throttle assembly would cure my issue. The old Gilson has a pull cable on it and that works good.
