What make hour meter is good... and where can I get it (internet)... cost too ?
The hour meter is for a new Ariens 11528DLE snowthrower... 11.5 HP OHV Briggs & Straton engine... like to mount the meter on the operator's console...
Thank you...
Dave...
...now to do the search...

Dave-
I purchased a tiny tach which has the hour meter that you can reset. I mounted it right on the control panel.
TT226R-2C $36.95

I have the TMI RTS99 digital wireless unit.

Faithfulfrank had pointed them out two or so years ago on e-bay, so I picked up a couple.
Strictly an hour meter. Has a non-resetable totalizer, resetable run-time meter, and three count-down maintenance minders with visual alarms.
I velcroed mine to the airbox and wrapped a wire around the plug and led it to just under the meter. Put the meter is in a plastic case, even though they claim it is watertight. The spark plug is so shielded I couldn't get a signal otherwise. Just remove it when I'm finished and take it in the house.
I know you can run a long wire and it will still work. Did that on the pressure washer. The hour meter is on the handle and there is at least 4 feet of wire from the plug, under the frame and up the handle to beside the meter.

HGK- That watch probably costs a heck of a lot more than an hour meter! (I know... you're just plugging the home team again :) :!: )

Update...
Bought and installed SenDec hour meter from Sears... ~$29...
It has fixed functions... hours & tenths for total run-time... non-re-settable...
& pre-set 25 hour reminder at 25 hour intervals for service...
No versatility... but meets my wants...
The power for it comes from a wire wrapped around the spark plug wire...
EZ to install...

Now that's cool.
I never used one and was wondering how it was powered.
I tried the pen and paper. The magnet held it well on the block, but the paper got all soggy and the ink ran when I use the blower and the snow melts.

Ramit,
You need an operating system upgrade: try a plastic clip board and a grease pencil.

When it comes to upgrading operating systems, I have to say we will soon end up giving up windows. I am getting so sick of Microsofts BS and how they are allowed to do whatever they want. We will soon be moving to Linux and I think Linux will get bigger and bigger in popularity after people start getting fed up with Microsoft. I am already fed up with them, them in their Exclusivity BS!

Its a new Microsoft grease pencil. It will only work with the newest version of XP professional clip board.

but you must have SP2 installed.!

I think my next computer will be running Ubuntu/Redhat Linux or Mac OSX. Vista has a few too many restrictions for my liking.
Anyways Microsoft has already taken way too much of my money!
This eMachines will most likely be replaced by a Homebuilt PC, or a Pre-Owned PowerMac Tower. Only thing that is holding me back from the Macs is Corel stopped producing a Word Perfect office suite for the macs.

In all honesty XP (w/SP2) is pretty good, the previous versions of Windows I was having to reformat all the time, especially when gaming, it seemed 98 needed to reinstalled every 3 to 4 months if not less. I've been on the same XP install for several years.
I chalk that up to also having more know how now, AVG Anti-virus/Anit-Spyware and some other programs that keep this thing running just fine.
I'm gonna hang around XP for awhile, just like with 98, I'm confident there will be others that hang on for awhile. Until I get a Direct X Ten Graphics card and a super 64 bit system I'll hold on to XP.
For Gaming there is no substitute for XP, Macs, Linux, etc. just don't have the users for the publishers to make it worthwhile.
Now for a laptop I may get a Mac...but the problem is anything with that Apple logo goes way up in price just cause its a Mac :P

EGreen,
I hear ya, I'll be sticking with XP for a while, geez my laptop is still 98SE. Same install from 5 year ago, never reformatted or reinstalled.
I too see the break down point that would push me to change would be the Direct x or Direct3d 10 cards. But if and when I game I tend to be a year or two behind.
Cheapness mainly, don't want to spend 50 - 60 bucks on a game had need the bleeding edge of the latest and greatest cards and MOBO to play-me.
So I stay with few games that I might like from the bargain bins, and stretch out my pc for 3 years of life. I haven't gammed in over a year and have a few still in their wrappers. So I'm set for now and can ride through the beta phase of Vista and next gen directx cards.
You might be surprised at the latest prices of the Macs with the Intel processors.
I can still put together a more power laptop than a Mac laptop at the Mac price. BUT they are much much more competitively priced than they were before with the Motorola processors.

My work Machine is a HP Pavillion with XP Home. Its 3 years old and has always been rock solid. Plus I move pics around alot. I upgraded the hard Drive from 120 by adding a second HD of 250Gig. This allows me to install and upgrade my Snap-On shopkey seemlessly as there is 80gig of crap to update quarterly. My home machine is a presario from Jan of 2001 what a piece of crap from day 1. had Windows ME crashed every day till finally installed 2000 pro. Upgraded in every way tryin to save a buck but it still gags.Solid now but ssslllooowww as all. Lots of stuff just doesent work. My next machine will be another HP with the windows XP Media. I like the ease of which HP allows photo manipulation, even I can do it!!!
