I was posting after I had posted the Jingle Bells thing and all of a sudden what I was working on was gone. I was back to the General Chat page, where I had seen Ramit had replied. That was oksy, I looked at his reply and when I got back to the General Chat page, it had posted itself again. What's up with the ghosts and goblins in here?

The ghost and gobblins from the emoticons on your one post are just from that website only.. I posted that string of flashing pumkins from the same site. And when my pumkin string is gone, so are those emoticons you posted. So that's isolated to that one site we both linked to.
We've seen the same problem with some other members' photo hosting, based on bandwidth allowance from their hosting, by the hour or so.

I've not had the above happen to me, except when my flying fingers hit the wrong key and I'm sent backwards via the browser controls or mouse buttons ( some mice have extra buttons to control web browsing).
Depending on the browser, two combo of keys will do it, or even just one.
BUT when it has happened to me, or more so when I have done it to myself, I lost my post.

"it had posted itself again."
Sorry don't follow, looked at your posts and don't see any duplicates.
If I disregard the "again", Do you mean that your "just a warning" post was up and you never hit the submit button cause gobblins took you back to the general chat page before you were finished?
All you posts look complete... not like they were hijacked in the middle of your work.

Goblins had good timing. LOL..

What sort of Halloween party you got going on there? Whats in the apple cider?

All kidding aside, when ever it's happened to me, I've been typing my fingers off and flying on the keyboard. So that would be first question?? where your fingers flying? could it have been a mis-type (hit the wrong key(s))?

There had been 2 posts of the Jingle Bells in reverse. Please tell me I'm not the only one that seen it. It's always possible that I hit 2 keys at once. I do type with 2 fingers rather speedily at time, so anything is possible. I had been working on the warning post, when without warning I was back at the General Chat page, there was 2 of the Jingle Bells posted and I had lost what I was working on.
Man, I wish we were partying here! I could use a wind down!

Maybe someone else got to it before you got back here. But I swear on every fiber of my being that there were two. Honestly, I don't think I'm that bonkers yet. I had even posted to the second one, asking it where it came from. I think. Now I'm second guessing eveything I did today. I need a stiff drink...

You posted it at 1:41 pm.
I saw it at , went to the link and listen to it... came back and posted a reply at 1:46pm. So 5 minutes elapsed, but that's not the time that really counts, cause...
When I first saw it. there was only one post of it.
I must of seen it at 1:43 - 1:44 or so when I first read the post.
When I came back to post a reply, there was only one post of it.

Based on the timing there would have been at best 2 minutes for the likes of either Rob, Marshall, Chris, or Dave to come in and delete the 2nd one.
It would have been before I got there to first read it.

Of course Always possible.. but the timing is really tight, not a lot of time for one of the mods to come in and delete it.. and no posts from any of them around that time either.

Maybe the spiked apple cider will do ya good !

The page you see on the forum is built just for each visitor at the time they are looking at it... it's not a static page. But rather custom built each time a visitor views it. I have seen on one or two occasions when the memory of the 'puter gets maxed out... funny problems with such dynamically built pages can happen.
You could have had some strangeness akin to that.
Did you have many other programs opened at that time?

Maybe someone will own up to my causing such a ghoulish confusion. I had nothing else open at the time. But I think it was after I had read what you posted. Anything is possible I guess. Well off to get ready for the couple of spooks that I hope show up tonight.
