A mitigation hearing is where you admit you committed the violation, but you wish to explain the circumstances of the infraction.

This will be interesting. Any chance the judge is an ope kind of guy?
Date: 2 Oct 2006 8:19 pm
Sorry to hear about this. I'll pray and I have a good feeling that you'll come out of this in a good way.

I have really great news for you all. I was able to get my drivers permit and take a few drivers lessons but I had not yet gotten my drivers license. It takes money and time to get a license for the first time...
As some of you might know, I was in court today and I presented the judge with the instruction permit and a reciept for the lessons I took and he decided to reduce my fine right then and there from $538.00 to $224.00!!!
The pressure is off me now and I am feeling so much better! I celebrated me winning my case by going to Bobs Burgar & Brew and ordering the fish and chips dinner with currly fries! :D

Good NEWS Termy.

Seems like Santa came a little early to you this year! Congrats. How was the fish and chips?

Yes... :D
Read the fine print, and don't drive without a drivers license!

Awsome, I knew God had something in store for you to come out easy on this. Congradulations.
Date: 5 Dec 2006 10:53 am
I'm glad that things worked out better than you feared. So be careful while taking your driving lessons and have fun.
Date: 5 Dec 2006 12:45 pm
Well before I was pressured into getting the license right away or else. Now that I can go at my own pace with this, it makes it much easier on me. Termy is not that good under pressure, you don't want him as a leader of your squad. :(

Good news indeed Termy! Congratulations!

Congrats Termy, it could have been worse...
---------------
In my younger days I hated to go to court. It was all about my driving attitude. The modified 454 Corvette I owned didn't help the situation either. It attracted Cops like flys to D.S.
Most of the 1/2 dozen or so tickets I got I deserved. There were 2 exceptions:
A "No Turn on Red" sign in which that sign was blocked by a 3 parking signs posted directly in front of the NTOR sign. I took pics from the driver's side showing that the sign was blocked but the Judge wanted the revenue and was not interested in right or wrong. That cost me $1,000 as insurance went up for 3 years including the fine and court fees.
----------------
The second one was a fabricated ticket for speeding in which I was not a mile an hour over the speed limit. No radar. As I drove past the cop in my car I saw him sleeping in a parking lot and my engine noise woke him up. Earlier I replaced the trans in my Toronado and was testing the 1st to second shift point.
It justed shifted into second when I passed him and woke him up. he was still asleep as he wrote up the ticket for a 40 in a 25 MPH zone but I called the rookie on this one said I saw him "sitting" there as I approached and only an idiot would speed knowing this.
In court I hired an attorney and the slick attorney trapped the cop into an obvious embarassing lie. He was on patrol that evening (really sleeping) when he saw me speeding and followed me (so he said) even though he finally admitted that I saw him "sitting" in the parking lot. Half asleep he wrote a ticket for 40 in a 25 MPH zone but the problem was that the zone WAS a 40 MPH zone and I had photos to prove it. The court room was cleared and the doors were closed. I could see the Judge waving his arms through a crack in the door started screaming at the Cop and a deal was struck so that I did not sue the cop and the ticket was wiped. It cost me $600 to fight it though.
My friend made a great point. He said the money still stayed within the good old boy's club. (meaning the $600 attorney fee)
I have not been in court for almost 25 years now. I am real street wise and know all the "cop tricks". I also do not speed anymore which helps. lol

Thanks for telling me your story, I took some things from it to remember down the road.
Its even worse if you have gone to trial court several times before you go to traffic court! :x

Thanks, feel much better that its all over with. Its not a good feeling when you know your life is in somebody else's hands where they could judge your harshley and make you pay big time. Just got to make a couple of time payments to the court and I don't have to think about it anymore. :D
