I got an email from this forum saying I just received a new private message. When I hopped on over to look at it, there was nothing there. Has this happened to you? Is this a glitch or is someone tampering with things?

I haven't seen that happen (yet?).
Could it have been from an earlier PM? The email delayed?
I have a friend with a cable ISP account, that at times it's insane, it takes him from minutes to days to get an email. Very Unpredictable.

Ah, another thought......
The other thing that is possible....
Due to how PM system works....
Notice, that when you write a PM, it goes to your OutBox.
After the person you sent it to recieves it, it goes to your SentBox.
If the person you sent the PM to never goes in and checks their PMs, it just stays in your OutBox until they day they do or till you delete it.
If someone "sends you" a PM, the Board will send you an email saying there's a PM for you.
BUT, that PM waits in the outgoing box (OutBox) of the person that sent it TILL you login and go into you PM In box.
When you go into you PM Inbox, that's actually the very moment it's really truly delivered to you.
So if it took you some time between the time you got the email notice, and to come and login, that person that sent it could have gone into their outgoing PM box and deleted their message to you.
Once a PM was delivered to you, that PM goes from the outgoing box (Outbox) of the person that sent it to their "Sentbox".

That was me that couldent make up my mind,i wrote a pm to you saying to go ahead and order that hourmeter for me.
Then i saw Marshalls reply to check out some marine companys in Sweden.
So to give me some time to check out some boat companys i deleted that pm,i had no idea that an e-mail was sent right away the pm was submited :oops:

HGK, Not a mess, no - no, not at all.
But a good Question, so we all learned and there's now no mystery in case it happens in the future !
I'm sure there were/are other people wondering why there is an "Outbox" and a "Sentbox" and what's the difference and how it works.
