with a question. No, not that question. I've decided not to pursue my issue with the control snafu since it no longer occurs.
My request was:
"Please sell me the gear lubricant for my Toro snowblower which I purchased here in this store 2 years ago"
and bear in mind that I took with me and showed to the parts man the page copied out of the owner's manual which shows Toro's spec for the gear lube as being a "GL-5 or GL-6 SAE 85-95 EP transmission oil which is NOT a synthetic".
What he sold me is a GL-5 SAE 80W-90 gear lubricant which does not show the EP designation, but which does meet the MIL-L-2105E (whatever that is...military would be my guess). I don't know what the EP means and wonder why Toro says it is important.
So...okay says I and I paid my $4.99+tax for one quart and left with it. I went to the dealer after searching other sources for Toro's specified product without success. If it turns out to be money wasted I won't give a hoot because I'm sure I can use it elsewhere. But if it gives the gearbox in my Toro fits, I'm going to be **upset**. Incidentally, it carries a John Deere label...but is manufactured for them by someone else.
Aside from this subject, they still seem to be well stocked with snowblowers after 2 significant snowfalls. They still have the 726/6000 for $949, 826LE with headlight for $999 and 828 for $1249.
