yes friends you read about it here first.
tommorow it will be in headlines around the world.
i went and did the unthinkable .
i got her a christmas present ...darn right i did.
she even picked it out.
we were on our way home (we pass a large hardware store )
and i mention that we should check it out.
she said "sure"
in we go.
i mention that i still want to get her somthing "special".
now i know you are all saying to your selves...i hope he springs for the new ARIENS -yea right if only.
she walks me right to the CRAFTS section of the store and said
"if you LOVE me you will get me a .... SEWING MACHINE "
yes folks IPE
indoor power equipment.
i got her the very last one they had, seems they are the in thing this year and are quite popular .
ha... could of fooled me.
never in all my days did i figure she would want a sewing machine.
ill probably be banned from OPE for life now
i can see the little sign now ...
here inside these locked forum pages are the last helping words of the once famous Snowshoveler.
he crossed the dreaded line into INDOOR power equipment, never to be seen again by the OUTDOOR friends that he had here.
goodbye shoveler
snowblowers and lawnmowers will miss you

LOL Chris,
That's what I call my trash compactor, my IPE. I fire it up a couple of times a day just to hear it purr.
Oh yea, now she can mend your socks and underwear, I know your angle.

There is lots of great IPE.....nothing to be ashamed of brother!
Some IPE allows us to have more time for OPE !
Better then buying her a vaccuum cleaner....remember, if you buy your wife a Vaccuum cleaner for Christmas.....and she says, " THIS SUCKS ! "
Do NOT say, "Yup, it sure does!! "

IPE can definately be fun. I did a lot of research before I bought my wife her Miele vacuum. Water heaters are fun, I recently went w/ the instant heat tankless one, great unit!!! Someone here reccomended a dishwasher a while back, and I went w/ their recco of the Bosch, and love it, I never use it, but like how it cleans. Also recently bought the wife new washer and dryers, went w/ the Maytag Neptune retro units, they work awesome. I did alot of studying on all these purchases, and even though I dont use them, I felt good about what they offer to my wife to use. 8)

Indoor power equipment is fine....just think that when it breaks, you can use tools to fix it! :D

Nobody commented about me knowing what I was getting for Christmas. I thought that would have been one of those automatic things that would come to ones mind. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use the thing.

Make him wrap it Sherri and put it under the tree.....just for the sheer fun of watching him get tangled in the tape, wrapping paper and ribbon...![]()

Embarassingly enough he wraps a gift better then any woman I know. Hmmmm, I never did know what to make of it. But his gift wrapping skills are superb.

Nothing wrong with a man being able to wrap well. If I must say so myself I do a darn good job as well. Developed these skills when I worked in an auto parts store in my high school days...one gets good at it wrapping up running boards or a large mechanics tool box.

Hopefully that isn't due to his having a lot of experience unwrapping...

You know the thought had crossed my mind. His sister told me a story when she was home this summer about Christmas when they were kids.
Pam (his sister) and his mother were wrapping gifts and putting them under the tree. His mother commented that she thought she had gotten more, but it didn't look like a lot. Come to find out that the boys were upstairs with their fishing rods. They had a removable furnace grate and they were caught fishing for their gifts. Pam and his mom thought they were seeing a ghost when they saw a present floating towards the ceiling. Now that was putting their heads together and using what they could. Boys, leave it to them.

Sherri, there comes a point in time when you always know what your getting for Christmas. We men need the help. The best thing you did was tell him what you wanted. There's nothing wrong with that.
Chris, the year before last I went for an IPE as a special treat, a Kitchen Aid Pro 6 550w 6qt monster mixer. We're talking easy double batches with up to 12 cups of flower capacity. Now I help make the cookies, I get to operate the beast, she tells me what to put in, I get to play with the power! This thing will shake itself off the table.
No shame in good IPE.
I'm right with Frank there.

That is really sweet Frank and a great idea.
However, might want to avoid that area during a fight, especially if there were any heavy pans used making dinner...

What's #3 Frank? I did most of the dishwashing and the only one who was there to talk to was the cat, and mostly he just wanted to discuss cat feeding and rubbing fur off on my legs.

A sewing machine will NEVER get you thrown out of the OPE fraternity! Now she can make you that canvas cab for your tractor, one for the snowblower, a sunshade for mowing in the summer, an awning for the side of the shed so you can work outside in the shade, fitted tarps to protect your equipment, car, truck, etc. Even sails for the boat you wanna build. I think it's GREAT!!!!!! :)

Boys there Joe, don't give him any ideas...
He'll be having high hopes if he thinks I'm going to attempt those things. BUT I will show him how to use the machine. He'll be better at it then me any way - I just have that feeling.

I got my wife some IPE too.
2.5 HP continuous duty motor
57" deck
10 mph top speed
up to 12% lift
It's a New Balance 1400 treadmill.
She said she wanted to exercise more, and so do I, so I figured why not.
I went to the Sports Authority. They had this treadmill on sale for $999 down from 1299. But they didnt have anymore. So I went a few other places but did not see one I liked as much. So I went back to Sports Authority to see if I could buy it and when it comes in, they'll hold it for me to come get. Turns out the truck had come while I was gone, and now they had one. So, I said great, I'll take it. Then the guy takes me over to a telephone, and tells me here's a survey slip. Call this number, answer the questions and give us good ratings, and you get 25% off your purchase. Holy moly! He essentially gave me $250! I rolled out the door with this beast for 749 plus tax. He helped me out to the car, got me loaded up, and I gave him a real nice tip. He knew how to work it, that's for sure. But I saved a lot of money.
You should have seen my wife and I trying to get this 260lb monstrosity into the house. First up the steps, then through doorways... it barely fit and it sure looked a lot smaller in that big store. It now occupies a corner of the living room. I've never realized just how small our house can be. If I had been thinking clearly, I'd have put it in the basement...next to my acoustic and now electronic drums. Oy vey. I'll need 3 or 4 guys to help me do that.
There's a few brutes from LI on here... I promise to offer beer after we move it!

Think of it this way, you are glad that you did the research needed to buy her a great qaulity sewing machine AKA IPE. This way when ever your shirts, pants, socks, or even undwhere get a tear or hole in them, she can fix it all up because you got her sewing machine. And last but not least, you also made her the happiest wife ever! I respect your decision and I honer it.

thanks Termy.

Your welcome Chris. So has she used her new sewing machine yet or is it packaged up for christmas already? My brother likes to buy things for me, test them out first, and then package them up ahhh hahahaha. A true bro he is
Date: 22 Dec 2005 5:40 am
No Termy, I haven't tried it out yet. No matter how much I'd like to, it's not Christmas, and I was always taught not to rattle or squeeze any gifts until Christmas. So I guess trying it out is something that'll get done after I open it Christmas morning. :?

He's a everyday gift. Still don't know what he sees in me. But I sure do know that I'm the lucky one!

I'd say you were both gifts.
But does that mean neither one of you gets "rattled or squeezed" until Christmas? ![]()
