Here is the thing, I believe that a forum on a website is a big part of what brings a community together. In a forum, I would like to have the features you see here in this wonderfully put together PHPBB forum. Problem is that the forum on my website is a basic forum run by Bravenet. To upgrade to pro so that I could have the features I need, they want 50 bucks per year! Can't afford that right now in my current state. So, I want to look into the cheapest hosting possible to host a PHPBB forum like this one. Of course I already downloaded the full package forum software but is useless until I find hosting. Does anyone here think that they can help me out or is my idea a lost cause?

PS: I noticed that they had all the instructions I would need to setup the forum on PHPBB's website but they were a bit technicle lol. Sounds like I need to start learning this stuff along the way if I am going to do this.

Ok, I have been looking at different hosting sites and I seem to like this one for hosting my PHPBB forum. AceWebHosting It looks like this website unlike other hosting sites, actually tell the truth about the fees! But Ramit if you could look it over mabye to help me make sure that I am paying 4.95 per month and not like 100 bucks up front? If I am going to pay 4.95 per month than I am going to pay 4.95 a month.

I am currently going through some crap to get my purchase cancelled at dot5hosting because they led me to believe I was going to pay 4 dollars per month plus free domain and then when I make the purchase it says charging 96 dollars to your account! I was like what??? I don't have 96 dollars in my account, I was like sh** So I submitted two tickets to them to get my account cancelled! And if they don't cancel my account, god help them cause they will here from my bank!

T20,
Can you just start a Yahoo group or something? Some of those are pretty good. I go to this one once in a while.

Na, thats too basic! Even my forum is better than that! I am working with ramit for options to get what I want. I want to build a PHPBB forum just like this one. It will have features I want and it will have more space and bandwith to support more people. I want it to be a good backup forum for ope on the net aswell! Once created, my plan is to select, Marshall, Robmints, Chris_S, and Dave__IN__CT to moderate it and in turn they can update the forum with Information regarding the condition of ope on the net. And if they so not want to moderate it, thats fine I can and they can update information as members. And we can continue our community on that forum till ope on the net is back online! Problem with my forum, it does not have all the features I want and people are not really familyer with it.
