HI,
I'm new to the site I came across it while looking for info. a manual, pictures or a helpful forum like this to help me out. I have a hahn eclipse that i can find no information on. From what I found Gravely took them over but they have no records on there site for a manual. It resently burned up the belt so I am trying to replace it myself, the pully is in the middle of the driver shaft. My question is does anybody know how to remove the shaft on it? Does it just pull out or is it threaded? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It has on solid shaft from the friction plate to the plate where the chute fan bolts on. The pully is located in the middle of the shaft. I'm assuming it slides out from the chute end but i can't tell if the friction plate is pressed on or threaded. And it sure seems like alot of trouble to disassemble the entire machine just to change the belt.

SALUTE! fellow hahn-eclipse owner. Mine just recently threw a rod so its no longer in service and being replaced with an Ariens 926LE soon (most likely).
I had to get the same part you did. The local shop we took ours too knew a lot about them but other shops saw it and said don't even bother taking it off the truck. I'm sure I could get some more info for you and take mine apart to find out what you need.
Its built like a tank and the augars are driven by a chain on the right wheel while the impaler has the "only engage in neutral" lever. It's hard to retire it since it went through anything that was thrown at it. We're still considering throwing a new engine on but it is 40 some years old. It has a massive discharge chute and impaller. We put a new gas tank on last year :)
To change the belt you don't need to remove everthing. If I remember correctly theres just one part you losen, which allows enough slack to put it on, and then you tighten and are ready to go. The guy who worked on it said something about strectching too.
Here's some pics of my old beast, still sitting the garage, awaiting its fait, heck if we could find an engine real cheap for it that might be the way to go, then again everthings rusty and the bolts are a pain in the ass to losen :) We can only dream to get that kind of service out of our soon to be delivered Ariens (I hope soon anyway).

Good news, I went to take pictures for snowshoveler and my batteries where dead, it was snowing with about 3" on the ground already I became frustrated and became determined to get this old monster apart. After making a fair assumption that the rod was not threaded I made a puller to reach the shaft without removing the auger. With some serious pressure and some WD-40 it broke lose, (it was just pressed in). She'll be back in business and blowing snow tonight.
Thank you all for your help and thanks to Egreen for the pics, I thought I was one of the last ones in existance. Where are you located if you don't mind me asking? If you're going to retire the old hahn I'd be interested if you'd happen to be close by.
Thanks again guys!
