Wow. Maybe they ran out of Tecs. Maybe it is going to be standard for next year.
Good eye Knee. Thanks.
Thanks Marshall.

They list both brands on both the Deluxe and Pro models.
Looks like B&S finally figured out how to count.....

I don't know if it had anything to do with it but I was reading on another forumn that there is something up with Tecumseh. That they are laying off alot of workers and such and having production issues. I'll have to find the post. - Kris :D

hmmm an ariens machine with a briggs inteck...now thats just gonna waste that big simplicity ,im betting that the orange paint will peel right off the simplicity if i park the ariens beside it.
its a good time for ariens i beleive.
So Paul old buddy ,just how long have you known about this little bit of info.
it must have taken a bit of time for you and your staff to get the inteck to fit on your motor box for the productionline.
is it the same motorbox,or have you made some changes.
on the ones i swapped out it was a tight fit but can be done ,the hardest part for me was re-aligninment of the chute ontrol arm.but on the new machines this is above the engine so its not a factor.
im assuming that you will use both engines ,probably a good idea .a lot of folks still like the tecumseh, and its a good engine.
also congrats on the 2 million mark thats pretty impressive.
2 thumbs up from me

Tecumseh doing layoffs? Maybe they are feeling pressure from Briggs who has a Newer design and is hitting the market HARD !
Sears usually sells everything it can make, and they have been offering more and more Briggs powered units every year.

Being Briggs owns Simplicity, I wonder if it will eventually sell Intek Snows for the whole Ariens line or just sell a few as an upgrade motor.
I believe the only other place for Ariens to go for a full replacement is Honda...and I don't think Briggs would want the number 1 premium snowblower company to go there.
Perhaps in the future, Simplicity will be forced to lower their price points to compete with a Briggs powered Ariens...Or maybe Simp. could go Honda...they've got them as options on their tractors already.
Simplicity has a smaller market share and a Honda on those big machines would be enticing at a slightly higher pricepoint.
What a marketing marvel that would be...Briggs could corner the market with the Intek Snow on Ariens and other lines and then put the better Honda on their Simplicity line. They would sell many more engines and many more Simp. blowers.
I've got the wrong job!!!

Honda on Simplicity could edge out Ariens with a Briggs motor, when looking at the Pro series and Simplicity top model line ups.
Would mmake for interesting head to head competion !!

And being Briggs owns Snapper through Simplicity, they could keep the Snow Inteks on the Snapper line and offer them to Lowes or Sears as a premium line for them and directly compete with Ariens/Home Depot.
Keep Simp.'s as OPE dealer only with Hondas. That would squeeze Ariens on both ends of the market.

This is a grand day in history. We'll see how the Tecumseh handles, but I wish it could have been sooner they offered these engines. I'd love to be employed by Ariens, building quality everyday working around my favorite color.

I wouldn't mind being a Rep for them. Only companies with quality products and they certainly are one of them.

Ive never had a problem w/ a Honda engine, Tec engine, Kawi engine, or even some cheap Chinese Honda knock off engines. The only engine I have ever had a problem w/(went through 3 of them) was a B&S engine. One on a power washer, one on a kids go kart, one on a lawn mower. Personally I now shy away from B&S powered stuff. I'm sure they are just fine, just that I have had bad luck w/ them, makes me avoid them. I think there is a little luck involved w/ how an engine will do for ya. Just like a lemon car, there are lemon engines out there of ALL makes. Also they are made by humans who all have bad days, good days, hung over days, gee it's almost 4:00 on Friday days, I think my gal friend is sleepin' w/ Bubba days, etc. Buy whatever, market whatever, I'm sure it will work just fine for ya, and if it doesnt, well that's how opinions get formed.

I have several pieces of ope and have both Tecumseh and Briggs engines. I myself like the Tecumseh. I have yet to have a major problem with either brand but for some reason I am a Tecumseh man. Kind of like Chevy or Ford . I remeber as a kid my friends and I all had minibikes with briggs and the rich kid on the block had a minibike with a Tecumseh and the indian on the side made us all drool. That was probably when the seed was planted. Oh how I wish I was small enough to ride a minibike again :D And if I was It would have a Tecumseh !

this is one of the few remaining parts of the market where you can still get American made and designed equipment. Sorry no honda in this house hold :)
I prefer Tecumseh too, haven't had much experiance with Briggs but Techuseh has faired well for the OPE that I have used. With that said I would be happy with either engine in the soon to be delivered Ariens 926LE. I hope it will be an Tecumseh though. I think I'm partial to it because my grandfather made sure to buy Tecumseh. I think I'm more loyal to the engine than the blower on it. I wonder if Toro will still be using Tecumseh engines.
Heres a nice pic of the indian:
40 years of service is certainly dependable long-life.

The Tecumseh carb I just bought was made in the Czech Republic.
The layoffs and consolidation at Tecumseh are due in part to their Brazilian engine production.
While some of the CAD software that these companies use is made in the US, (SolidWorks) the company was purchased by a French CAD software company several years ago.
Honda has extensive manufacturing facilities in the US, including an engine foundry. US parts content on an Accord is 70% - higher than many Canadian or Mexican manufactured "US" cars. They employ many thousands of Americans - many, many more than Tecumseh.

Has Briggs and Stratton also gone this route? Heck if they are more domestic than Tecumseh it might be brand change time. I didn't know that about Tec. I guess you just can't assume things. Sounds like if my blower gets a briggs it will be a good thing.
Was looking around the B&S sight and noticed they have intek and power built. Anyone familar with the main differances between those engines? I also noticed there is no 9HP version of the powerbuilt, so either ariens is finding a way to make an engine more powerful or its labeled lower like other brands.
