I went to the local Canadian Tire store to get my faters Christmas present. They had none on the shelf and I asked a sales lady about it. She checked the computer and sure enough they have 16 in stock. She goes to the owner and asks him about them and he tells her that they can't sell any until 2 weeks when they come out in their sale flyer (for regular price $99.). So I said good enough and I put back the few little Christmas things I had picked up and left. But I just checked online - and I can order it through there and have it delivered.
I went to the local hardware store and they don't carry it, but they have the same thing in their brand for $119.95 and of course they are sold out. But they were nice enough to print out the picture and description for me to think it over.
I will not be going back to Canadian Tire to buy this gift, I will spend the extra money if I have to at the hardware store where they are friendly and I got to discuss snowblowers with several of their workers today. They aren't so sure they want to buy from the store, they want good, quality machines.
To top it all off I come home in a rush because I'm starved and decide to check my suet feeder as it was almost empty this morning. What do you know - the whole thing is gone - cage, chain and suet. Damned squirrel, he was sitting out there in a tree squawking at me and I told him to shut up if he wanted to be fed, but I guess that's outta the question since he already stole the feeder.
Sorry for the rant, needed to get it off my chest...Thanks

Thats bad business in my book. You either have it or you don't...if you do, you sell it, if you don't, you don't advertise it that you do (hope this makes sense ). And the fact that you can buy it online is just wrong. I would contact the highest up manager you can find at Canadian Tire and let them know because of their policies, they've lost a customer. I would also email corporate a nice profesional letter informing them of the same.

I've thought hard about mailing or e-mailing them a letter. But I decided for right now that I'm going to do some housework to burn off the fustration. This place needs a good old fashioned scrubbing.
So off to find the broom, bucket, mop, dusting supplies and after that I might just tackle the antique tea cups and saucers in my curio and wall display. Nothing like a box store to make ones blood boil. (It does help get the house work that I've been putting off done though. 8) )

Sherri,
There is something screwy about that store. If they have what you want in their catalogue or on-line as regular merchandise, and you want to buy it now, they can't horde it for a sale. They should go get you one out of stock if you don't want to wait until the sale comes.

I'm in Cdn Tire at least once a week. I've bought a 1/2 inch hammer drill on sale. The week before it was on the shelf at regular price, the week of the sale it was there on sale, and then it went back up to regular price after the sale. Every week they have a sale flyer. I'm surprised the store would know that much in advance what is going on sale, and around here they bring in a large number of whatever is going on sale and fill the shelves with it. Unless it is something they are clearing out.

It's a National Geographic Weather Station, so I'm sure they don't want to clear them out just yet. It's just a new store opened with a new owner, and I can see why people say he's an a$$hole. The store didn't impress me much today. I will go back because Mark's Work Warehouse is in the same store, other then that I think they can pound salt. Our last Candian Tire store was small and cramped with things piled to the ceiling, this new one is huge in comparison, but if they don't want to sell what they have, why bother?

That must be one of their newest layout of store. Haven't seen one with a Marks in it. I like the clothing in Marks. Cdn Tire has at least 3 or 4 layouts of those warehouse stores now.

I see on-line that they say quantities are limited. Still, that means you should be able to buy it if they have it in stock. Also means when it goes on sale there will be limited quantities, which will make it harder to get unless you get there first.

Don't understand the attitude of that new owner. I've had the employees go in back to get me stuff, and no manager had to be consulted. I wanted two sleeping bags and there was only one on the shelf.

Okay, so these damned weather stations came out in the flyer - sent my mother there for 8 AM. Go figure they were sold out. Now they wouldn't sell one to me when they had them, they had to wait for the flyer to come out. The flyer came out and POOF gone. I was in on Saturday and they had none on the shelf, but yet first thing Monday morning they are gone.

Well my Mom managed to track down a weather station for me. She got it at Zellers and it was the same price PLUS today they had 10% off. So I guess I did better then if they would have had it in Canadian Tire. I guess everything does happen for a reason. :D

Glad to hear you finally got it, and for a better price than Cdn tire had.

It was in the electronic flyer I get on Friday, and when I checked there were none available on-line. It wasn't on sale this week but some of the stores in this area had it according to their on-line inventory.

If I remember correctly they told you it would go on sale starting this coming weekend. So that means they'll put it on sale with a "limited quantities" note which means they may not have it in the store.

It had been in the flyer this week and the stupid sales lady told me to be there first thing Monday morning to get one. But they were gone, with no Sunday shopping here, I'm kinda wondering why Santa would take them all when I wanted one so badly for Dad. :?
But the main thing is that I did get one and now all I have to do is wrap it and pay Mom for it.
