This auctioneer has several antique tractor auctions coming up in August, September, and October, but the BIG one will be the consignment auction over 3 days in Sept. 1,2,3, 2005 in Indiana. Here is a link to the auctioneer's website:

And old Abe Simpson is the avatar I've used in other forums and I've become identified with him. Although I'm much younger, I move at about his speed

The McConnell tractor company is liquidating their entire inventory of tractors and equipment. They sell Chinese and Indian tractors under their own name. Also selling machine shop tools, steel inventory, attachments and more. Might be a good chance to get a VERY good deal on a compact utility tractor! Here is a link to the auction info site:

And here is a link to the tractor model info:

Lets see.......5,280 feet in a mile x 52 miles = 274,560 feet.
A tractor at an average of 22ft in length with the same spaced between each one would equate to 44 ft.
274,560 feet divided by 44 feet = 6,240 tractors, all in a row.
That's a sight I would like to see.
Date: 12 Aug 2005 2:18 pm
Marshall,
I think they are gonna fire up a few dozen tractors and drive the 52 miles to show them off...... but you could be right
Date: 12 Aug 2005 2:22 pm
This is a 3 day show of antique tractors, steam engines, garden tractor pulls, farm tractor pulls, and all around good fun with lots of activities and a flea market:

Frack! Gotta learn another way to post pics....
Date: 12 Aug 2005 4:45 pm
Joe, click on "edit" on your post and go in and look at what I did.
Two things:
1. the [ img] has the backslash on the second [img] not the first.
2. I got the address of the pics by right clicking on the pic, selecting properties, copying the address. Looked like you had the addresses but they didn't have the .jpg on the end of them? maybe it didn't copy all of the address?
Simple, you had it, almost.
Date: 16 Aug 2005 5:02 pm
Lets add Deans Farmall B. Its a nice old rare tractor.

Not a tractor show but there is an annual tractor parade. The fair is just across the parking lot from where my sons play Little Leage "Fall Ball." I may be there on Sunday.

BIG Thank You Marshall on how to post pics! Seems every forum has it's own little peculiarities, but now that I see how this one is done, it's pretty easy compared to some others.

I'd love to get one of the smaller older tractors to tinker with, move my trailers around, plow a little snow... just a cool yard toy.
Date: 19 Aug 2005 2:24 pm
Check out your local newspaper for auctions in your area, and scan ebay for stuff. You can do an advanced search on ebay for "Long Island tractor" of New York tractor" or scan for tractors within "X" number of miles from your Zip code. I often see stuff in CT, MA, and NY on Ebay.
Date: 19 Aug 2005 2:46 pm
Thanks for the tips Joe,
but it will have to go on my wish list.
I had a neighbor that bought and collected a few, besides other farming stuff. (after a short while he sold his business and bought a farm out east)
I would speculate based on the prices he discussed, it's not in the budget for me right now.
But one can dream and let a little drool run on to the fender.
Date: 19 Aug 2005 3:56 pm
If you are handy enough to do most of your own repair work, you can pick up a "handyman special" tractor for as little as $750-1000. A large sum of money in my house for sure, and probably for you as well, but doable if you pinch some pennies, sell your scrap aluminum cans, mow a couple of lawns a week for folks (all things I'm doing right now to save up for a CHEAP running Bolens tube frame tractor)
An example of one you might be interested in:

Joe, that's just about perfect size and style to what my heart desires..
That's not soo bad.
I've done a lot of wrenching in my time, and worked as a mechanic between other full time jobs.
Machining parts is out of my capacity.
How hard is it to get parts for such a tractor?
Date: 22 Aug 2005 10:18 am
Parts are available used for most A-C models, and being a simple machine, there are not a lot of parts to worry about. There are aftermarket parts companies making brake pads, clutches, and even some tinwork. The good thing about collecting and Allis Chalmers, Deere, Farmall, etc, is that there were lot of them made. Getting parts for a Silver King, or Plymouth tractor must be a real adventure. Besides owning such a machine gives you more reason to go to antique tractor shows, flea markets, and swap meets to look for parts :D .

Hey ramit,
I've bought a few things from that guy (McGrew). He runs ebay stuff all the time and it's always a true no reserve auction with a starting bid of 99 cents. He's honest in his descriptions, and the folks down there are nice to talk to when I picked up stuff in person. I'd assume that his live auctions are run the same way.
Date: 6 Sep 2005 2:04 pm
Joe,
Thanks for the reference.
They have a great website for window shopping.
They have lots of niffty stuff.
One day I'd love to buy a small tractor.
But no money for such an item now.

My 1st old OPE / "work truck" I would love to buy is an old Dodge PW...
An old WDX around 1949 or so.
Something like this...

or this....

There's some of my drool on every one of those fenders.
See it on the fender of the gray one, first photo? !
But for me there's nothing like a PW and two live drive axles.

Out of those that Sherri posted, I must say that Mac is really the coolest...
never seen one like that before.

yup.. one day , don't know what it will look like, but I will have a ~49 PW.
came close a few good years ago, before things went to poo.
Starting shopping and pricing and planning.
They aren't terrible. "Restored" was cheaper than an avg new car.
Compared to unrestored and some of the prices they are getting for the unrestored ones, some of the restored ones from restoration houses weren't to bad. The most expensive I saw was better than new restore body and frame, every nut and bolt replaced, original drive line and engine still running and "freshened up", $29K was the sold to price. That was a deal and the most expensive I came across at the time. So later it may need mechanical work or an engine rebuild, but that's the fun part.

This is a pretty good show to go to and decompress from the holidays. If you get there early, there is FREE "Hobo" stew (very good and VERY hot), and if it's cold you can keep warm in the steam engine building if they have them fired up. Free admission, and free parking. I've been to this show several times and always see something new every time. Their website isn't up to date just yet, but you can check out photos of past shows, and get more info at:
